Get ready for OnePlus 5 with 8GB RAM and dual-camera; company discontinues a few OnePlus 3T devices

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus will soon launch the OnePlus 5 device and they might feature 8GB RAM and dual cameras. According to a new leak on Chinese website Weibo, OnePlus 5 will have 128GB storage along with 8GB RAM, Hydrogen OS on Android 7.1.2. AndroidPure had first shared a screenshot from the Weibo, which has posted the settings page of what it claims to be the OnePlus 5 smartphone. However, there is no mention of the name OnePlus anywhere in the page. Meanwhile, OnePlus has discontinued the OnePlus 3T with 128GB gunmetal colour variant. Is it because the company is getting ready to launch the new device? Whatever it is, it will be an interesting development in the smartphone market if OnePlus introduces 8GB RAM, since it was one of the first manufacturers to add the 6GB RAM in its devices when it had launched the OnePlus 3.
Meanwhile, the Chinese smartphone giant has confirmed about the launch of the OnePlus 5 to The Verge. Additionally, according to a Weibo report, company CEO Pete Lau has claimed that the smartphone will come with 'a big surprise'. Earlier, the same website had also leaked details about the camera on the OnePlus' latest smartphone. Unlike the vertical dual camera at the back present on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, OnePlus 5 could have them horizontally placed. Whether the phone goes for a camera setup like the Apple's device with a wide-angle and a telephoto lens or it opts for a monochrome and RGB lens, remains to be seen. We will have to wait and see. Additionally, Kumamoto Technology on Weibo had claimed that the two rear cameras could be placed horizontally. Also, several rumours have been doing the rounds that a 23MP rear camera might be present in the OnePlus 5, but again that is not confirmed.
OnePlus has become a huge brand in many markets all over the globe because it offers amazing features, which are comparable to the flagship devices from Apple and Samsung, and that too at much lesser costs. If OnePlus 5 continues the trend it will be an exciting time to witness the strategies of the bigger rivals. Famous tipster, Evan Blass had earlier tweeted a picture which showcases a wallpaper from what appears to be the new OnePlus smartphone. even Android Police?s David Ruddock posted on Twitter, mentioning OnePlus? co-founder Carl Pei, asking him whether one can expect a ?dark? announcement sometime soon. Pei in turn, replied to the tweet, with a GIF of wolves howling at night under a full moon.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 5 might feature a ceramic body with 4,000mAh battery alongside a 6GB RAM. Another report in Chinese publication PCPop claimed that OnePlus could come in an 8GB RAM model as well. The phone might also have a 16MP front camera, a 5.5-inch display ( Full HD (1080p) SAMOLED display we saw on the OnePlus 3 and 3T) and the Snapdragon 835 processor, according to various reports. The phone may not have the 2K display as the prices would increase by a big margin.

Earlier, a mobile retail website, OppoMart had listed the OnePlus 5 on its portal, where it showed a vertical dual rear camera setup. A $449 price tag has been put on the device. But it is advisable to not buy or assume the price and features are correct until the device is officially launched by the company.
In terms of price in India, OnePlus has always targetted the mid-premium range, and following its trends with OnePlus 2, 3 and 3T, it is expected that the new smartphone, OnepPlus 5 will be priced around Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000.
